Biography

Sonia George is the visionary founder of the I’m-Able Foundation. A Tanzanian-born student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Business, Sonia has lived and studied in Europe, gaining a unique perspective on the challenges faced by her community back home. Growing up in Tanzania, she witnessed firsthand the societal undervaluing of education, with many believing that prosperity does not depend on formal learning. Sonia strongly opposes this notion, advocating that education is not merely a pathway to employment but a means to acquire wisdom and the knowledge necessary to create sustainable economic opportunities.

Her favorite quote, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,” by Nelson Mandela, encapsulates her philosophy. Sonia is a firm believer in education’s transformative power, not only for individuals but for society at large. Her desire to make a difference was deeply reinforced after meeting a bright, determined student who became physically impaired after a tragic accident that also claimed the lives of his family members. His story inspired Sonia to address the glaring gaps in education and support for individuals with disabilities in her community.
